IT'S
NOT EASY BEING A CARERS CHILD
|
|
For any child saying goodbye to a loved animal is hard and Rhian
as the daughter of a carer, has had to say goodbye to so many.
Rhian is the 15 year old daughter of Barbara Steffensen our founder
and a dog carer. For many years she has helped her mother care
for thousands of homeless animals at her home. Every now and then
it seems extra hard.
Little Bud (a black kitten) had been with Barbara and Rhian for
many weeks and was very timid when she arrived at their home.
Over the weeks Rhian loved and cared for Bud and she became the
most playful and loving kitten.
Recently Bud found her own special home and Rhian had to say goodbye.
This is one of the tough tasks our carers and their children try
to accept. Carers kids do their best to understand that if we
can find the right home for our 'care animals' we are able to
offer help to another abused or homeless animal, that needs lots
of love and a second chance also.
Lets say thanks to the children of our carers and volunteers who
help us do our rescue work. The plus for these children is that
they are given the chance to experience the pleasure of so many
animals but also they see the sad reality of bad human behaviour
towards animals.
Children are the future advocates of animal rights and at ARRG
children are taught about the rights of all animals and understand
why we are a no-kill group.
Barbara would like to thank and recognise all the kids of our
carers and volunteers who help us with the hard work of caring
for the animals and are very patient with us adults who often
spend lots of time with the animals and spend ages on the phone.
Thank you kids for helping us ARRG adults.
