Dobie (a doberman) was found wandering on a property near Lismore.
The lady who found him on her property was very distressed and
called ARRG as he was skeletal and suffering.
He needed immediate veterinary treatment and ARRG arranged for
him to go to one of the veterinary clinics who work with us.
This dear dog needed dental work as his teeth were all broken
and he needed work on his eyes as he had warts on his eyelids
and his body condition was shocking.
It took many months of care before he was ready for adoption.
Because of his age and medical history we thought it would be
a long wait for a home.
We received a call from people at Yamba who were doberman lovers
and they were looking for a new Dobie having lost one recently.
The callers were a liitle reluctant because of his age, but decided
to have a look at him anyway.
The moment they met this gentle giant they decided to take him
on trial and we all waited with finger crossed. At the end of
the two week trial they called us and confirmed that this gentleman
would be staying with them. They said he had behaved so well and
got on fine with their other doberman dogs.
Later we received a card from them saying how his strength and
appetite had greatly improved due to his daily run on the beach
with their other dogs and that he was the most wonderful dog.
What a wonderful result for a dog that was so ill and neglected.

a donation to assist ARRG to help abused animals like Dobie.
